Optimal Caribbean Poker Strategy

Having the best strategy in caribbean poker may be next to impossible but we can probably come up with a second best strategy. Caribbean poker gives us few options on hand play and betting strategies that other poker types allow. However, simple games may be won through simple strategies.

Generally, in Caribbean poker, we should often raise when we have a pair or something higher for a hand. And it is often better to fold when we have a hand weaker than what the dealer's face up card is, especially when what we hold is lesser than the dealer's AK, an example of the dealer's qualifying hand. Actually, examining the AK hand will make us appreciate its tricky features. It would be better if the dealer just has a jack or something smaller that equals somebody else's hand to reduce the dealer's possibility of having a pair.

It is good to raise in case the dealer's hand has something from a 2 to a queen, and one of the dealer's cards is equal to one of our cards. It is also favorable to raise if the dealer has an ace or a king and our hand is has a queen or a jack. And we al the more raise if the dealer's card has a rank that is not equal to any of our cards and we hold a queen in our hand. This is especially so if the fourth highest card in our hand is greater than the face up card of the dealer.

Moreover, we should always consider betting at the jackpot game of a Caribbean poker. This adds to the potential winnings we may rake in from the game. It's hard enough to chance upon a royal flush dealt to us; how much more if the dealer qualifies and we have a lower hand or equal. We cannot bluff our way to the pot in a Caribbean poker game because we cannot change our hand, and neither can the dealer the dealer's hand. And the dealer cannot fold.

Lots of times, folding weak hands is better. We only lose the Ante bet. Playing a weak hand is likely to end up losing the raise also. AK is best folded if we don't have cards equal to the dealer's face-up card. Simple strategies like these are simple but they are crucial in the game of Caribbean poker.

Thus, the rule for a strategy is simple. With no pair or something higher, we fold.
