Progressive Jackpot Strategy in Caribbean Poker
What good is a side bet for a progressive jackpot in caribbean poker? Is it worth playing or do we discard it altogether? How does a jackpot work for players and the casino?
For a dollar bet we can opt to play an extra game for a progressive jackpot. If we are to win this additional game using the same hand for the regular one, we should come up with at least a flush hand or something higher. Royal flushes are better as they are paid more. Different casinos offer different payoff schemes for winners of a jackpot round. But the common is being paid 100 percent for showing a royal flush while being paid 10 percent of the jackpot when our hand is a straight flush.
When two players both have royal flushes (which seldom happens), the player immediately to the dealer's right side wins the jackpot and the other winning player gets a determined amount which is often something like $10,000, more or less. Dealers often pay winning participants from right to the left. When two winners have straight flushes the one to the dealer's right gets 10 percent and the other one gets 10 percent of the remaining amount. Of course, the best thing here is to always play the jackpot round only when the win amounts to a total of $150,000. This makes percentages result to more.
Sometimes a royal flush winner sitting immediately right of the dealer gets the full amount and the straight flush winner just gets 10 percent of what can be gathered again for the jackpot. If what was re-gathered amounted to $10,000 the straight flush winner gets $1,000. We also have to remember that in Caribbean poker the house odds are more than 26 percent. So it better be a large jackpot at stake to make the playing and betting worth it.
Jackpot meters, where jackpot winnings are based, work this way. If we bet a dollar 71 cents of that goes to the jackpot. The 29 cents goes to the house. When a royal flush wins the casino pays extra $10,000 for the next poker jackpot. So the casino puts up the first $10,000 in the jackpot, called the seed. Some casinos can get as much as 18 times or more from a 29 percent portion.
It is good to often opt for the jackpot play in a Caribbean poker for a more profitable win. Anyway, what's $1 compared to the jackpot potential?
