Recovering from Online Poker Losses
The difference between good and weak players is that the weak ones, when faced with a string of losses, just sulk and play on until they lose their entire bank roll. The good players, on the other hand, make the proper adjustments. If you are new to online Poker, you should be aware of the techniques employed by the pros to help them get over the hump.
The first thing that must be done is to evaluate your entire game. Take a step back, and objectively analyze your game. Being an online player, you will no doubt have an online Poker tool installed that tracks the hands that you play with. Now is the time to use it. Learn from it.
Are you playing too many hands? Do you raise pre flop with JJs or TTs? Are you too tight? Too aggressive? These aspects of the game will be revealed, not just by the software, but by your own analysis. Be honest with your game and you will find the problem very quickly.
You should also check your mental attitude as you play a game of Poker. Do you play the game expecting to lose? That is something that happens to some players. After going through some losses, they will start to play more hands, hoping that by being more loose will get them back the money that they lost.
That will only result in more losses, and once that happens they will go into the opposite direction: they will tighten up like a rock.
The proper Poker strategy of course, is to alter your mind set. Learn to refocus on your game, and the tactics that you utilize to win games. For a lot of poeple, this is the most difficult part of recovering from a series of losses. Confidence in a player is something that cannot be just turned on, or taught.
However, it can be attained, or if lost, regained. One just needs to concentrate on the game. He needs to remember that even the best in the world go through losses, and that only by persevering were they able to recover. You must have that same winning attitude in Poker.
Part of changing your mindset means accepting that you cannot win every hand once you change your mind set. You will win some, and lose some.
That is part of the game. However, by changing your mental approach, and tweaking your Poker strategy you will be able to play better, and will lead you to more wins.
